Stephen K Amos: Theatre Royal Haymarket

One of many exciting new stand up comedians to come from the comedy circuit in Britain, Stephen K Amos has become a familiar face on both stage and television and built up a popular fan base for his style of comedy in which crowd involvement plays a big part of his routine.

Born and raised in London but of Nigerian origin, Stephen K Amos has worked his way up in the comedy circuit, first number of small compere gigs to now a number of bigger festival appearances. He is regular at the legendary Comedy Store in London where a number of British comedians first got their big break and cut their teeth in comedy. Amos has also played at the renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival a number of times and he has even been given the chance to showcase his material abroad, playing the Melbourne Comedy Festival on numerous occasions to great reception.

With his rising success on the comedy circuit, Amos has appeared in a number of television shows, not just for comedy but also topical programmes of a factual and serious nature. He has been a regular panellist on the popular satirical shows ‘Mock the Week’ and ‘Have I Got News For You’ and has also been a headliner many times on the BBC’s ‘Live at the Apollo’. Comedy aside, Amos has appeared in shows the likes of the BBC’s political review show, ‘This Week’ and chat show ‘The Wright Stuff’ where has discussed issues that are prevalent in British society today. His documentary ‘Batty Man’ focused on homophobia in the black British community and Jamiaca, an issue close to his heart being an openly gay comic.

On Tuesday 14th February 2012, Stephen K Amos headlined the show alongside the wonderful Joe Lycett, Chris Martin and Suzi Ruffell at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in London for a special Valentine’s show. Couples, smug couples, bachelors, spinsters; no one would be safe from Stephen’s brand of humour and as always would involve his audience as much as he could, no matter how embarrassing!
