Harlem Globetrotters: Wembley Arena

Combining theatrics, athleticism and comedy with one of America’s most loved sports basketball, this is the Harlem Globetrotters. Arguably the most well known exhibitionists in sport, the Harlem Globetrotters were fist formed in the early 1920s and have been entertaining audiences all over the world with them clocking up an impressive 20,000 plus exhibition games. For fans who love a bit of showboating and trickery, the spectacle that is the Harlem Globetrotters is a must see.

Hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, the Globetrotters are renowned for their dazzling tricks and across the globe their popularity amongst fans continues to grow as well as the team always recruiting new fans. As well as their tricks and spectacles, they are recognised for their theme song, “Sweet Georgia Brown” by 1940s American recording artist Brother Bones and their iconic mascot “Globie”.

Culturally, the Globetrotters impact and heritage is huge with the team making several film and television appearances. TV shows such as ‘The Simpsons’, ‘Loveboat’ and ‘Gilligan’s Island’ are just some of the popular entertainment shows the team have made appearances in as well as appearing in a number of live action Harlem Globetrotters films.

Still continuing to wow audiences with their amazing and incredible skills, the Harlem Globetrotters were set to entertain the crowds at Wembley Arena in London on Monday 26th March 2012. At Wembley to speak to Globetrotter fans were WinkBall video reporters Laurent and Emma, who were there to discover what had brought the many Globetrotter fans down to see the team perform.
